Time to say "good bye..."

Many of you already know that my family has been planning a move to Pennsylvania and the time has come to say an official "good-bye".  Kayla has moved in for good and Charles is more than anxious to have all his girls finally join him!  June will be our last month in town.

Plans are being made for me to come back for events and special crops and I've heard tell that I'll be back for the Spooktacular crop!  I will also be keeping track of all the new product and happenings around the store and I'll be keeping y'all current with emails and blog posts.  Jill has asked that I continue to design for classes, kits and more so keep your eye out for stuff as it comes into the store. 

There is an informal "farewell" party set for Saturday, June 20th from 11am to 1pm.  If you want to come and say 'bye, please stop by the store.  I would love to see all my scrapbooking friends...NO, my scrapbooking family, come and wish me 'bon voyage'!  Maybe share a favorite memory, a hug and certianlly some tears!

From the moment I started working here many moons ago I felt an amazing sense of homecoming.  Working at The Doodle has been the most rewarding professional journey I've been on.  I can't imagine not being around Kristen's creativity and drive, Leisa's inspiring talent and being the greatest travel buddy ever, Shirley's hidden party animal and quirky sense of humor, Jo's dependable sweetness and devotion to snacking, Stacey's...well just her being "Stacey", Kathy's hard work and sense of fun, the way Barbara just cracks me up every day, going to "the Kims" for advice and looking at them as the people I would like to be when I grow up, Dianne's passion for our hobby, Mere, Tayler and Lisa keeping me up-to-date with what the kids are doing these days and Jill's supreme dedication to those in her life and her constant grasp of what is good and fair.  Working here has also given me the greatest gift of "community" by allowing me to work with all of y'all.  It has been amazing sharing with you the love of this hobby of ours...working on projects, shopping for new products, sharing new techniques, going on our road & train trips...just all the fun we've had!

As much as I am looking forward to being with Charles again and starting our new journey in Pennsylvania as a family I feel that I am leaving a big part of myself here.  Words cannot express how much I will miss life around The Doodle....thank you all for the many, many happy memories!!

Amanda teaches Cafe!

This past Tuesday we had a "guest teacher" come in and teach for our Creative Cafe Happy Hour.  Well, Amanda is really one of our designers and teachers anyway, but since this was her first Creative Cafe we called her a "guest teacher".  Since she did so well, I am guessing you'll be seeing Amanda at more Happy Hours!  Anyway, a big 'ole Happy Birthday to you Amanda and the flowers you taught everyone to make in class were lovely!

I love QuicKutz

You know that we are always using our QuicKutz in projects, make-n-takes, layouts, classes which means we like our QK a lot.  Because we use them all the time, we try not to use the same shapes over and over but we each have our "favorites" and tend to reach for those over other shapes or alphabets.  Like me and Dragonfly.  I love that font.  I use it all the time.  In fact I just made them into stamps to use in my upcoming "America is Waiting for You" class and they just look so darn cute!  On the other hand, we each have different tastes, so there are a few fonts or shapes that I never reach for.  Sometimes I am even swayed by the "Leisa used it" factor.  Say if there is a shape I just don't like or "get" and see Leisa use it in some fabulous fashion, then since Leisa used it, I need it!  (Hey!  I'm human too!  LOL)  Anyway, for me Jacqueline is just one of those basic fonts that upon seeing the package I could take or leave.  Pretty, but a bit too basic for my tastes.  All that changed when I used it just now creating a sample for next week's QuicKutz Klub meeting.  I pulled that font out 'cause it was one I hadn't used and it fit in the space I had.  Oh my!  I love it!  I've changed my mind...it's not "basic", it's "classic".  Looks good.  Lines up good.  Easy to read.  Easy to place.  Love it! 
So if you have some dies that you are on the fence about, give them a second look 'cause sometimes the packaging just doesn't do it for me!  Better yet, click right on over to Leisa's Design Team page and check out all her cool layouts, cards and projects that she has done for QuicKutz!
