Gotcha!!
Announcing our 2nd Annual National Scrapbooking Weekend!
Join other addicted scrapbookers while the Doodle Divas spoil you as we celebrate National Scrapbook Day with a weekend-long crop!
We will be cropping on Friday, May 2nd from 6pm to midnight, on Saturday, May 3rd from 10am to 2 am and on Sunday, May 4th from 10am to 4pm.
It will be a jam-packed weekend with scheduled events like make-n-takes, product demonstrations, a wine tasting event at Tastings of St. Petersburg and fun games with the chance of winning cool door prizes!
Your pampering begins with a unique goody bag put together for you by our inspired Divas and continues with homemade meals from our Doodle kitchen. Some croppers have said that having delicious food brought right to you and not having to do any dishes is well worth the cost to crop! There will be drinks and snacks provided as well. On Saturday, Molly from Slainte will be here to offer chair massages for $1 a minute. (Her hands are magical!)
Our crops are tons of fun and set up for you to be inspired and to have lots of time to actually work on your projects. Our Doodle Divas will be on hand to help you work through those less inspirational times. The Creative Cafe is always available to shop from and to get great ideas from and is very conveniently located in our crop room! As always you will have access to our non-consumable crop room supplies including our QuicKutz machines and dies, punches, tools and our new digital area with Cannon printer (bring your camera's memory card or your photos from the Internet) and QK Silhouette! You can print journaling, titles and photos. You can surf the Internet for a perfect quote. You can cut a unique shape or title from the Silhouette.
If you are traveling from out of town or just want to get away from the house for the weekend have we got great news for you! We have partnered with a local bed and breakfast, America's Best Inn,
to offer you great weekend rates. This charming inn is just a short walk from the store and has free parking on-site. Stephanie, from the inn, says that they offer free continental breakfast and a happy hour. Simply click on their name (above), click on "reservations" and then on "Whim So Doodle Weekend" to take advantage of their special rate.
The cost for National Scrapbooking Weekend is $150 and even though our crop room is BIG, seats are limited to make sure that everyone has room. I guess what I am trying to tell you is that seats are gonna fill FAST!! Check your calendars (you should already have NSD marked!), call your buddies, make sitter arrangements and stock the freezer with TV dinners!! You do not want to miss the fun!!
Call the store to reserve your space NOW!

So it has been quite awhile since I have sent you out a "hey, look at what is new" email. That doesn't mean that there haven't been tons and tons of boxes hit our front door! But I have been too busy getting them ready to sell that I have not had a spare moment to tell you all about 'em! So, as usual, when I have lots to say, you might want to grab a glass of iced tea (add some lemonade and I'll be right over!) and read on!
New, coo laser cut paper from KI Memories in fun colors and themes. These were such a hit on the Treasure Hunt that they almost wiped us out!!
We love-love-love all the great colors and font in the American Crafts line up!
In case you didn't know, our EXCLUSIVE COFFEE DIE CUT IS NOW HERE! We have shipped all the pre-orders. We have put all the local pre-orders in the hold bins. There are dies leftover so if you didn't get on the pre-order list, then you are in luck! Come on down!! It is so cute!!
This is a postcard from a crop (off-site) that we are participating in. We are working with the uber wonderful gals from The Kids Charity of Tampa Bay to raise money to help build a full-service residence facility for foster children. This is a charity that is near and dear to my heart so I am really looking forward to helping them raise tons of money. If you are interested in attending a true scrapbooking extravaganza, then mark your calendars for Saturday, October 18th. There will be great food, fabulous door prizes (and I do mean FABULOUS!), goody bags and make-n-takes. VIP Guests crop from 10am-10pm and the cost is $75 and have some extra special goodies. Deluxe Guests crop from noon to 10pm and the cost is $60. Trust me...you will want the VIP spot! The crop will be held at the Shriner's Hall in Tampa, just off the Veterans Expressway. Registration has begun and if you want to sign up for a fun day call (813) 728-3165 and make sure to tell them Jen from The Doodle sent you (and that you want to sit at one of the Doodle tables)!! Remember that all proceeds support abused, abandoned and neglected children...and if you want to donate more...feel free. To read more about the charity and their "Kid's Place" shelter visit: www.kidscharitytb.com.
Pretty Easter stuff. Papers that glitter. Embellishments that pop. Cans in both small and large that are ready to turn into darling Easter baskets! You have to see the cute bunny paper from Paper Salon. Stacey was in today and she went nuts over it!
We have some super-cute seasonal stamps. The great thing about these other than the cute images and words is the price-$1. Yep! ONE DOLLAR for a mini set of stamps. These are very limited and exclusive to the independent scrapbook stores. So hurry in to see them-they are flying out of here!
More Easter goodies! See the cute Doodle Bug stickers? I just love Doodle Bug! Oh! And the American Crafts seasonal ribbons. You cannot get enough of 'em!
This is the coolest see-through album that Kristen picked out at CHA. This is so perfect for teens, tweens of just you girly-girls-at-heart.
Don't forget about the custom-shaped cross we had made exclusively for The Doodle. They are perfect for your Easter projects!
Tons and tons of 7 Gypsies! If you are a rabid gypsy then you need to drag your vagabond self on over and check out the whole line of 97% Complete Stickers, the new ATC sized ones, the fantastic "inked" line of rub-ons that look like tattoos, mini albums, new ATC cards (printed, colors and mylar!) and so much more! Oooh! My fingers itch just waiting to play!
KI's Elsie lines are cute. We loved the sports, the girly-girl and the outdoors themes. If you have a sports nut in your life, you need to make 'em a fun mini, shaped album!
Great new albums in fun themes like baby and teens. Awesome basic albums from We R Memory Keepers. Just you wait until you see what we have cooking for you with the new We R albums.
And now for something completely different....Kristen and I were so bowled over with something "on the green carpet" at CHA this year that we had to do some fancy talking to bring it in the store. It is not traditional scrapbooking supplies but it is can easily be used in and on scrapbooks. It is more a "crafty lifestyle" kind of craft. It is called "felting". Now, before you skip over the rest you have to promise to take a look at this. It is so exciting that we are all twiterpated about it! You use the pre-made shape and stitch them on to mini totes, clutch purses, bracelets, jeans, album covers and more! You use the felting needle and fun felt to create unique designs. It is all so fun and you DO NOT NEED TO BE CRAFTY AT ALL to do this!! Next time you are in the store please check it out (back at the Cafe) and look for some future classes and Kid's Camp projects using the felting stuff! Man! I am excited about this stuff!!
Whew! That is all I can type! So you can see the store is loaded with fun stuff. Come on by and visit us soon!!

Tonight if you are lucky enough to be able to come to the Creative Cafe Happy Hour then you will be making the cutest spring basket! Kristen created this week and Jo will be walking you through this fun basket from 5-6pm. The cost tonight is $6 and you are gonna just love it! Hope we can see you tonight!
Guess what...we got a call around noon today from a dude at Fox news asking if we wanted to be interviewed about a new health study release. First I was thinking, "you know you are calling a scrapbook store", but when he explained that they wanted to draw a connection between scrapbooking your family's history and keeping informed about health issuses passed through generations it all made sense. So, of course, I say, "come on down!" They were here within an hour and I was all prepared for Kim Brandimore to go on air. We had given her great sound bites, fun facts and more. She had freshened up her makeup and looked all pretty-like! Then they get here and since it was my family in the album they wanted to use me. Me with a total "back-room" work outfit on. Me with a terrible cough. Me with my roots showing!! Yikes. They assured me I would be fine as they put the mic on. The camerman assured me he would edit anything bad out. Yikes! So...if you want watch and see if I did ok, you can turn to Fox News tonight at 5pm! I promise that next time a TV channel calls Kristen is gonna go on air!!
Later!

I am a self-proclaimed star watcher and I was in such CLOSE PROXIMITY to real stars last night and I JUST MISSED THEM!! Not by a long time either....here is how it went down (or didn't, rats!)
I left The Doodle around 7:15 (pm to make it over the bridge in time for American Idol).
So you know that the big restaurant/lounge that opened up right next door has quickly become a real hot spot in downtown St. Pete. Big long lines, valet parking, a VIP area upstairs, etc. The lounge is called Push Ultra Lounge. They are just about 10 steps away from our front door.
Around 7:40 pm, as a dad-gum newspaper tells me, John Travolta and his wife, Kelly Preston arrived to the front door of Push....just 10 steps away from the Whim So Doodle door step....just 25 minutes after I rushed through it to make it home in time for AI...so close and yet so far!
See that lamppost in the background? I pass that every day! Can you imagine? I'm sure that they saw our huge new sign and wondered, "What is a Whim So Doodle"? Kelly may have even wanted to stop in and pick up some scrapbooking supplies! Oh my! Can you imagine what I would have done if they had walked in (we were open until 8pm!)-I would have fainted! Or wet myself!!
I cannot wait to see if Push is gonna bring in more celebs!

There are just a couple of seats left in Leisa's Thursday night class called Inspi(red). The class is a super-cute box filled with chipboard cards. The cards and box are dressed and distressed with red, orange, cream and brown. You'll be using QuicKutz shapes and more. This class was inspired by the "Go Red" campaign and is filled with inspiring words and quotes. Cost for the class is $35 and is this Thursday from 6-9 pm. This class is an exclusive class to those who are "Diamond Divas"-members of our QuicKutz Klub. To see more photos, click here: http://www.whimsodoodle.com/description-march-Inspi(red).html

Julie from TSS just called and told me some news she just found out that affects the Treasure Hunt. I took the following directly from the official HUNT SITE:
URGENT NOTIFICATION- Scrapbooking and Beyond in Sarasota has unexpectedly closed
before the beginning of the Tampa Bay Scrapbook Treasure Hunt.
Please cross this store off your list! We apologize for the inconvenience,
We were not aware of any impending issues with this store.
You will not be required to have a stamp from this store to fill your passport.
That means we now have 15 stores participating in the Tampa Bay Scrapbook Treasure Hunt.

It's raining out and boy-oh-boy do we have some fun planned tonight if you want out to come out and play! It's CREATIVE CAFE HAPPY HOUR!! Here is tonight's really cute mini tag accordion album...
The cost for tonight's project is $4. If you find that you cannot come out for HAPPY HOUR from 5-6, remember that anytime after 6 tonight or between Wednesday to Saturday you can come any 'ole time and make the project. Only difference between coming after HAPPY HOUR is that there is not a Doodle Dive there to help-you follow the recipe card. And of course, any time after Happy Hour is "while supplies last"!
Hope to see you tonight!
